Ethan Ostrow is a Minneapolis and New York-based pianist, composer, vocalist, teacher, and concert producer. As a musician, Ethan strives for an intense, lush sound and demonstrates deep personal expression. His music ranges from soaring melodies over head-banging grooves, to intimate reflective ballads. As much as his band, The Outside In, likes to burn down the house, Ethan's compositions are “dynamic, passionate, and gorgeous” (East Bay Express). Having led a double-life as an actor for many years, Ethan understands the power of storytelling, and brings it to his music every performance.
Ethan has performed at iconic NYC venues such as Birdland Jazz Club, Dizzy’s, Rockwood Music Hall, Chelsea Table & Stage, Nublu and more. He has also played at some of the San Francisco Bay Area’s finest venues including Yoshi’s, The Fox Theater, The Freight & Salvage, The Sound Room, and Maybeck Studio.
Ethan frequently combines his love of music with his passion for cancer charity work, and is proud to have raised over $55,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through his "Concert for a Cure" series.
Ethan is a recent graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, having been mentored by Stefon Harris, Dayna Stephens, Ingrid Jensen, Jaleel Shaw, Phil Markowitz, Jeremy Manasia, and Jay Anderson. He also studied with Bay Area legend Susan Muscarella, and spent a year in Minneapolis playing with and learning from Phil Hey (Dewey Redman) and Dean Sorenson (Glenn Miller Orchestra, Frank Sinatra).
